Here is one more reason NOT to use your internet service providers DNS. The reason I learned about this was because MY service provided was blocking some websites by removing them from their DNS. So when I typed in the site address all I got was a Host provided DNS error page can not be found. Yet when I typed in the IP address I was able to view the site just fine…. Hummm. Well that did not seem right….

I did some digging and discovered a wonderful solution called OpenDNS. Its fast and free to setup an account and has instructions on how to use in all sorts of routers… Go now and change your DNS servers you won’t be sorry.

Now comes the best reason not to use your services providers DNS… Its called DNS poisoning. where a bad guy takes you to his IP address and not the real IP address of the intened destination.

Use OpenDNS
