In rather shocking news, The Pirate Bay (TPB) has shut down its torrent tracker. The search engine remains, but instead of dishing up torrents it will instead serve as a magnet-link repository.

You’ve always been able to grab uTorrent’s program folder and drop it onto a thumb drive for portable BitTorrent handling. Now the PortableApps.com suite has packaged our favorite torrent client and integrated it with their application menu.

We all had a good little chuckle when Firefox took Antarctica by storm, capturing 100% of the web browser market share. Today the news is not so rosy for bittorrent and peer-to-peer supporters.

Swedish software firm Global Gaming Factory X this morning announced it has agreed to buy file-sharing service The Pirate Bay for 60 million Swedish crowns (which currently converts to approx. $7.7 million).
